CD4 is expressed on most thymocyte subsets and T lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood that recognize antigens associated with self-MHC class II molecules. It is also variably expressed on peripheral blood monocytes, tissue macrophages, eosinophils and neutrophils in some species. It is expressed at low levels on bovine monocytes. It is highly expressed on neutrophils in dogs. Approximately two-thirds of human peripheral blood T lymphocytes express CD4. (These constitute the CD8-negative T lymphocytes.)

This monoclonal antibody is produced as mouse ascites fluid, clarified by centrifugation, and filtered through a 0.2 micrometer filter. The antibody concentration is 1.0 mg/ml in phosphate-buffered saline, preserved with 0.09% sodium azide.
